My One Dollar Haircut (with video!)

Hi again folks! Today was the big day! Mummy wasn't so sure about it but my dad couldn't bare the sight anymore of wild growth on my head. So I got my very first haircut! The people at the hairsaloon were friends so it only costed me one dollar! Quick, go check out the video:

Mommy blog - time flies

Dearest all,

Max is now 5 months and 5 days old. It feels like we have known him forever and yet there is still so much to discover about him everyday. In his little "tool box" of life, he can now turn from back to belly, he is trying to crawl, he is eager to try new food each time I put something in MY mouth, he "talks", he laughs at jokes and when we tease him, more recently he grabs and hold things rather steadily. He is also starting to recognise his mama. This is very comforting and made me melt when he smiled so sweetly at me.

My family has been a great support to me the last couple of weeks. I am seeing sides of my parents that I did not know before. My dad can be so tender, gentle and attentive while my mom is so helpful with so many different things and made "daily" life easier. They are both very proud of Max and it made me feel that my child is also very loved and special in the world. I try not to think about what I will miss when we go back to Holland and try to focus on what is here and now.

Being mom has made me very conscious of many things, I am very grateful for the gift of this child and the many lessons that I have learnt so far from being a mother. Among the many things, I have learnt to appreciate the simple things in life much better.

Singapore & Bali

Hello everyone!

I've been having a great time over here in the land of black-hair people! Here are some photos and you'll get a good impression of how nice everyone is to me. Cheers!

Message to dad...

Dear dad,

Life in the far far east is indeed very different, everyday I meet new people and encounter new experiences. It's tough but I guess that's the life of a superstar world traveller. Although I get alot attention especially from mommy's mommy, mommy's poppy and mommy's sister, I still miss you alot. Nobody can change my diapers nor handle my tantrums during the feeding breaks like you do. My superstar status in Ang Mo Kio has not made my head big and my feet are still very grounded (when I am not kicking).

I would love to report some of the firsts that I have made today. Firstly, I made my first turn from back to belly today at 0730 this morning. Of course, mommy missed it because she was washing my bottle in the kitchen. Fortunately, mommy's sister, aunty Abby was sleeping in the same room and rescued me when I cannot hold my head up anymore. Secondly, I ate my first solid food today. Mommy's mommy, ah ma, fed me some mashed apple and I have to say that it does taste a little different than the usual milk that I get, however, I rather enjoy it (refer to photo). Thirdly, I typed my very first document instead of the usual dictation and have mommy type it out for me. This is what I have typed on aunty Abby's laptop:

Vfdg bZSe€,dr6ht6sxrth /€€“-;a;
[
Azzps]s’;w;€€$h]]C}EVWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWXA

It's encoded, of course, but don't bother trying to decode it because it is impossible! Well, the message is actually meant for dad and it says "Ik houd van je, pop". Mommy would also like you to know that she misses you and she look forward to see you soon.

love,

Max

Message from dad...

Dear Max,

I already noticed you were quite a special boy when at the age of one week you created your own gmail account and started blogging. So no doubt you must be doing fine now in the far far east with all those strange looking people, hot weather, and the smell of moth balls on your clothes.

Well, forgive me for using your account, I just wanted to say that I miss you and I hope you will still recognise your dad when he joins you in singapore and takes you in his arms again. Just in case: I'm the tall one with brown hair.

Anyway, say hello to mommy and tell her I love her very much. Be good to her, ok?

Your D.
